Ok, let's crack on with today's preview and tips.

A big chance for backmeorsackme

A cracking Paddy Power handicap chase run over an extended three miles at Leopardstown.

Paul Byrne owns two runners with Backmeorsackme and Ballysax Hank. The latter is having his first run since finishing second to Zanahiyr in the American Grand National Hurdle race at Far Hills in October. I’m happier backing the Emmett Mullins trained Backmeorsackme. This horse has run just the five times over fences. He put in a much-improved run when staying on strongly from off the pace to claim second place behind Three Card Brag at the Cheltenham Showcase meeting in October.

That race was run over 3m1f on good ground. To win the Paddy Power Handicap Chase at Leopardstown over three miles and a half furlong you need to be a strong stayer. Backmeorsackme stays strongly and remains unexposed over fences off his current mark of 125 and a low weight of 10-1. Last season he finished second in a listed handicap hurdle at Navan with Oscars Brother a neck third on soft ground over 3m1f. Oscars Brother has done really well over fences this season and was bought recently by JP McManus.

Will The Wise should be there turning for home with the good ground to his liking. The Gavin Cromwell stable has turned a corner with the winners arriving at last. Will the Wise is totally unexposed off his current chasing mark of 138 after five runs over fences. The form of his second place finish behind Ol Man Dingle at Galway has worked out well with that winner landing a Grade 3 novice chase at Cork.

Will The Wise has a touch of class as he won at Galway over 2m2f on yielding ground in October. The ground went against him in the Troytown Chase at Navan on his latest run. Nevertheless, Will The Wise plugged on for fourth place on heavy ground. Gavin is giving him every chance today with the excellent seven-pound claimer, Eoin Staples booked for the ride. That leaves Will The Wise with 10-7 on his back with the stiff Leopardstown course and good ground to suit.

Leopardstown 3:00

0.5 point each way Backmeorsackme 6/1 generally, 6 places.

0.5 point each way Will The Wise 9/1 Paddy Power & Skybet, 6 places.

Happy Christmas,

Nicky
