Welsh Charge to win Scottish County Hurdle

There are ten runners declared for the scottish county handicap hurdle today. Afadil won this race two years ago and finished runner up last season. Paul Nicholls has done a good good getting Afadil in here off a handicap mark of 119 with Freddie Keighley claiming off a further seven pounds.

Nevertheless, Afadil is favourite and we take him on with last years winner.

Welsh Charger won this race nicely from Afadil in 2025. He can win again off a pound higher mark of 127. I thought he ran well for a long way in the Greatwood Hurdle won by Alexei at the Cheltenham November meeting. Kateira heads the weights which leaves Welsh Charger carrying a lovely low weight of 10-10. Alistair Ralph has trained five winners from nine runners at Musselburgh over the last five seasons.

Musselburgh 1:43

1 point each way Welsh Charger 9/2 William Hill (1/4 odds) else 4/1 generally, 3 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky

Nicky and BetAlchemist don’t play that game. They publish everything — and the numbers speak for themselves. At the last three Cheltenham Festivals BetAlchemist outperformed Racing Post tipsters Tom Segal, Paul Kealy, and Irish tipster Gavin Lynch. When it comes to real, measurable profit, there’s no...
