Ok, let's crack on with today's preview and tips.

Nicholls Targets December Gold Cup

There are ten runners in the December Gold Cup following the withdrawal of Ga Law. Nevertheless, it is a competitive race as you would expect with over £71,000 to the winner!

Il Ridoto faded from the last fence home in the Paddy Power Gold Cup in November. I think the soft ground and racing a tad too freely cost him energy at the finish. There is no doubt the ground at Cheltenham has dried up quickly as the times were quick today on official good to soft ground.

The handicapper has dropped him a pound to a handicap mark of 141. That’s a lovely mark for Il Ridoto. He romped home here in the 2024 Paddy Power Gold cup off that mark when ridden by Freddie Gingell. The new course if no bother for this fluent jumper who might just get it his own way on or near the front end in this race.

Colonel Harry would surely prefer soft ground while it's a major jumping test for Kim Roque on his second run over UK style fences. Jagwar won twice here including at the festival last season. If fit enough for his first run of the season his class could see him win on route to a tilt at the Ryanair Chase next March.

Cheltenham 1:50

1 point each way Il Ridoto 11/1 Paddy Power & Skybet, 4 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky
