Midlands National Preview..

Hi Reader

The Cheltenham Festival is done and dusted (another profitable one).

We swiftly move onto the Midlands Grand National. It's hard to believe that the flat returns on Sunday with the Irish Lincolnshire at the Curragh racecourse!

This Saturday, we take aim at the Midlands Grand National which has attracted a field of 17 runners. Hopefully, we enjoy better luck as Wreckless Eric was a very unlucky loser in the Imperial Cup last weekend at Sandown.

Ok, let's crack on with today's preview and tips.

Val Dancer can win the Midlands Grand National!

The Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter is a great way to tailend the Cheltenham Festival week. It's a proper race with an excellent first prize of just over ninty thousand pounds.

The clerk of the course has been watering all week as unusually we have good to soft ground this year. Let's crack on with our two selections in the Midlands Grand National

Val Dancer was a great winner of the Welsh Grand National at Christmas. He backed up that run with a solid third place finish in the Grand National trial at Haydock. I am a big surprised to see the handicapper has dropped him 5lbs following his latest run.

Obviously, he thinks he treated him too harshly raising Val Dancer 12lbs for winning the Welsh National. I like that Val Dancer ran so well around this course in the three-mile novice chase last season. Charlie Hammond rides him well and he remains open to improvement over this marathon trip.

My Silver Lining won the Classic Chase at Warick before finishing second in the Grand National trial at Haydock last season. That is cracking form, and she runs here off two pounds higher than when winning at Warwick. She has the class to be a major player if bouncing back to near her best for trainer Emma Lavelle.

My Silver Lining is a great jumper and races here carrying a nice low weight of 10-9. She's a live outsider if running close to her best.Of the rest, I was tempted by the Gordon Elliott raider, Fortunedefortunata.

Uttoxeter 3:00

0.5 point each way Val Dancer 17/2 William Hill & Unibet, 5 places.

0.5 point each way My Silver Lining 28/1 Bet365 else 25/1 generally, 5 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky

Hi Reader We switch to the flat for the Lincoln Heritage Handicap at Doncaster today. Next weekend it's the Aintree Grand National! Crazierthandaisy was a late non-runner last Saturday. It left a gap and best going forward to select two runners against the field in the big race on Saturdays.
