Ok, let's crack on with today's preview and tips.

Roger Varian to strike in London Gold Cup

A relatively small field of ten runners in the 2025 London Gold Cup Heritage Handicap at Newbury.

This 3yo handicap usually throws up a classy winner. Royal Ascot beckons for the winner.

Roger Varian is confident of a big run from Saddadd. It’s only his fourth run so we can reasonably expect improvement. This horse won on debut over a mile at Southwell in December. He ran a bit green and was too far back when third to Opera Ballo in February.

Roger tested him on grass over course and distance last month. He ran a fine race to finish second beaten by a good horse called Gethin. Saddadd is well drawn in stall 4 and it’s a small field of only ten runners. One of John and Thady Gosden’s trained pair could well prove the main danger.

Newbury 2.00

1 point each way Saddadd 4/1 Paddy Power & Skybet, 4 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky
