David Menuiser has decided to try City of Delight over a mile and a half. He looked ready for the step up in trip when a staying on second in a slowly run mile and a quarter race at Windsor in May. That second came off the back of two wins at Doncaster and Epsom.

City of Delight needed every yard of the mile and quarter distance to win at Epsom. He looks sure to appreciate the extra two furlongs. City of Delight is not ground dependent, and it seems likely that the favourite, Sir Lowry’s Pass will be a non-runner due to the quick ground at Haydock. Our selection is remarkably consistent with six wins and two places from eight runs on turf.

Plage De Harve is an obvious danger is not finding the mile and half distance too sharp. Paddy The Squire is open to improvement going out in distance on ground he seems to enjoy.
