Summer Hurdle Moon to Shine

The Summer Handicap Hurdle is a National Hunt hurdle race in Great Britain which is open to horses aged three years or older. It is run at Market Rasen over a distance of about 2 miles and half a furlong , and it is scheduled to take place each year in late July.

The race was first run in 1995 as the Summer Festival Handicap Hurdle. It was awarded Listed status in 2008 but was downgraded as of 2020. The distance of the race was reduced from 2m 1½f to 2m ½f in 2010.

Moon Chime will love the forecast heavy showers due at Market Rasen. The ground could well turn good to soft which will suit the son of Pether’s Moon more than most of these summer jumpers. Moon Shine won twice last spring at Stratford and Hexham.

Moon Chime rightly bolted up at Hexham and runs here off a five-pound higher mark. This race should be run to suit with lots of pace up front. The stiff hill finish will give Moon Chime a chance to pick off the leaders with Kielan Woods doing the steering.

Kihavah has gone up the ratings since finishing second in this race last year. It will be hard work for him on rain softened ground lumping top-weight of twelve stone. D Day Arvalenreeva could prove our biggest threat off the back of a win last time out.

Market Rasen 2:40

1 point each way Moon Chime 9/1 Bet365 & 888sport, 4 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky

Hi Reader The Ebor Handicap is named after the shortened form of Eboracum, the Roman name for York. It was first run in 1843, and it was originally known as the Great Ebor Handicap. The race was introduced by John Orton, a newly appointed Clerk of the Course at York. It was initially contested over 2 miles, but its distance was later cut by 2 furlongs. The race is now held on the final day of York's four-day Ebor Festival meeting, and it is the most valuable flat handicap in Europe. Big...
