Becher Premier Handicap Chase Preview..

Hi Reader

The Becher Chase is a Premier Handicap Chase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged six years or older. It is run at Aintree over a distance of about 3 miles and 2 furlongs, and during its running there are twenty-one fences to be jumped. It is a handicap race, and it is scheduled to take place each year in November or December.

It is run over the same fences as Aintree's most famous race, the Grand National, and it serves as an early-season trial for that event. Two winners have gone on to win the Grand National; Amberleigh House and Silver Birch. Earth Summit won the race in 1998 following his Grand National win the previous April.

Becher Chase A Dunne Deal.

We get stuck into the Becher Premier Handicap Chase over the national fences at Aintree. A select field of thirteen runners including Bioluminescense from Ireland.

Gaboriot ran a cracker on his first run of the season in the Grand Sefton Handicap chase. That was an improvement on his third-place finish in that race a year earlier. Gaboriot jumps the national fences great and it’s just a case of the distance been on the short side for him in the Grand Sefton over 2m5f.

Gaboriot has been crying out for three miles plus and gets his chance here. The soft ground is fine, and he did win at Cheltenham over four miles on soft in May 2024. A two-pound hike off his latest run is more than acceptable and with a clear round of jumping, Gaboriot has a massive chance off a feather weight of 10-2. Robbie Dunne rides Gaboriot for the second time and will have learned plenty about Gaboriot from the Grand Sefton race.

Aintree 2:40

0.5 point each way Gaboriot 7/1 William Hill (¼ odds) else 7/1 generally, 4 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky
