Ok, let's crack on with today's preview and tips.

Balmoral Handicap Greek Order

Michael Bell won this race with Carrytheone last year. He relies on Greek Order this time round with five-pound claimer, Jack Callan riding. Greek Order looks well in on his current mark of 96 with his jockey taking off a further five pounds. This horse ran a cracker in the Royal Hunt Cup when coming clear of field with the winner in the stands side group.

Greek Order backed that run up with a solid third in another mile handicap at Sandown. Greek Order finished fourth in the Golden Mile at Goodwood and meets Fifth Column and Ebt’s Guard on much better terms here. We can forgive his latest two runs over a mile and a quarter and nine furlongs which stretched his stamina. The return to a stiff mile on good ground with only 8-7 on his back gives Greek Order a good shot and winning back-to-back Balmoral Handicaps for his trainer, Michael Bell.

Ebt’s Guard has enjoyed a super season. He started off back in April with a win in the spring mile handicap. He handles most types of ground so the good ground on the straight course at Ascot will suit. Ebt’s Guard was ridden too far back when meeting some trouble in running before finishing off his race well in the Royal Hunt Cup.

That run in the Royal Hunt Cup proved him to have improved to be a danger for all in the major mile handicaps. A second place in the Golden mile at the Goodwood festival was followed with a tidy win at the Shergar Cup meeting. Ebt’s Guard is drawn in stall one and hopefully gets a good toe into the race from Holloway Boy in stall two.

Of the rest, the main danger will come from inform runners like Shout or Crown of Oaks.

Ascot 4:40

0.5 point each way Greek Order 20/1 Paddy Power & Skybet, 6 places.

0.5 point each way Ebt’s Guard 14/1 generally, 5 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky

Hi Reader A welcome change from the flat to the jumps this Saturday. It has been a tough flat campaign in 2025 with a lack of Big Handicap winners. The aim is to win it all back over the course of the jumps season. That will include access to all tips for some of the major festivals until we get back into profit. Hopefully, that seems fair going forward into the winter and 2026. Big Saturday Race Preview And Tips All our Big Saturday Race Previews & Tips are published online at...
