Uncle Bert Can Win on Cheltenham Trials Day

The premier handicap chase scheduled for 1:15 has a first prize of £56,950. A sizeable sum for winning connections with eleven runners declared.

Uncle Bert can bounce back following his late fall when out of contention in the Welsh Grand National. The ground was fast at Chepstow over Christmas, and we know Uncle Bert loves it on the soft side. Two runs ago he bolted up at Aintree over two and a half miles on soft ground. He stayed three miles on soft over hurdles when he won at Haydock last season.

Uncle Bert has only had the five runs over fences and is open to improvement from his current handicap mark of 138. The testing ground and slower pace should help on the jumping front. Sam Twiston-Davies rides and should enjoy a good spin on the front end. Jagwar is the correct favourite however who knows if he is going to be on a going day!

Cheltenham 1:15

1 point each way Uncle Bert 7/1 Bet365 else 13/2 Paddy Power, 4 places.

Happy New Year,

Nicky

Nicky and BetAlchemist don’t play that game. They publish everything — and the numbers speak for themselves. At the last three Cheltenham Festivals BetAlchemist outperformed Racing Post tipsters Tom Segal, Paul Kealy, and Irish tipster Gavin Lynch. When it comes to real, measurable profit, there’s no...
